MBTI®: what?

  • The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®) is an instrument that helps people to get to know themselves better by means of reporting behavioural preferences.
  • This indicator was developed by Katharine Cook Briggs (1875-1968) and Isabel Myers (1897-1980) who studied Jung's theory on the relation between the 'unconscious' and the 'conscious' and the psychological types for many years.
  • After more than 50 years of research and development, the current MBTI® is by far the most used instrument in the world to understand personality differences.
